Celebrity interviews are almost always entertaining, hilarious, or heartfelt. In some cases, however, they are total disasters. Whether it was because the host was rude, the guest was eccentric, or the two of them did not click, these interviews can be so uncomfortable to watch that they make fans cringe. Here are fifteen of the most outrageous celebrity interviews of all time, almost all of which went viral for the wrong reasons.
Joaquin Phoenix On David Letterman
No one was sure if Joaquin Phoenix’s bizarre 2010 interview with David Letterman was full of honest, painfully awkward eccentricities or if he was putting a show on for the cameras (and for a spoof documentary he was filming). During the appearance, the acclaimed actor barely spoke. When he did, he slurred his words and refused to make eye contact with the host. Always one to have fun with his guests, Letterman made repeated jabs about how uncomfortable the interaction was and how odd Phoenix was acting. The media assumed that Phoenix was either drunk, high on drugs, or both. As the audience laughed uncomfortably throughout the interview, Phoenix asked Letterman, "What do you have them on? What do you gas them up with?”
Cara Delevingne On Good Day Sacramento
Interviews can become awkward for many reasons. In this case, however, the hosts seem to be to blame. During an interview to promote her film Paper Towns in 2015, Cara Delevingne and the anchors of Good Day Sacramento did not get along well. The hosts asked Delevingne right off the bat whether she had bothered to read the book on which the movie was based. Appearing live from New York via satellite, she delivered a sarcastic reply: "No, I never read the book or the script actually, I kind of winged it." The anchors chuckled throughout the segment, eventually telling Delevingne that she seemed "a bit irritated" and advised her to take a nap and get a Red Bull.
