20 Movies That Predicted The Future With Eerie Precision

Movies are often dramatic retellings of past events; historical epics, biographies centered on amazing people who changed the world, or intimate peeks into the mind of a visionary director. What’s most incredible, though, is when movies seem to somehow foresee the future. Most commonly, sci-fi films predict coming technologies, but it goes deeper than that: we’re counting down 20 movies that foretold everything from dark tragedies to amazing inventions.

The Cable Guy – Multiplayer Gaming and Smartphones

Post-Grad Problems

In the words of star Jim Carrey, “You can do your shopping at home or play Mortal Kombat with a friend in Vietnam.” Indeed, Carey’s classic 90’s comedy The Cable Guy introduced the world to the notion of online multiplayer gaming as well as the use of smartphones.

Game of Death – Brandon Lee’s Death

Wall Up

This one is unfortunate. Actor Brandon Lee’s tragic and untimely death was forecast in the famed 1970’s kung fu flick Game of Death, starring Brandon’s father Bruce Lee. In the film, Bruce’s character is shot with a real gun that was supposed to be a fake. Tragically, that’s exactly how Brandon was killed in a freak accident on the set of The Crow in 1993.
