Volcanoes are fascinating, so long as they are far away. However, for twenty-four-year-old Christopher Horsley, active volcanoes have long been a source of fascination and excitement. This is why he and a team of three other researchers recently spent time exploring an active lava lake inside a volcano in Vanuatu. Horsley, a native of Ormskirk, Lancashire, used a variety of tools to record his trip, including drone photography. Here are twelve striking photos Horsley took to capture the red-hot interior of the active volcano.
Horsley explored the volcano as part of a team, which included two climbers, Kevin Keator and Nik Halik, and Geoff Mackley, who was responsible for creating the expedition.
Horsley has a great deal of experience climbing, taking photos, and piloting a drone in the extreme conditions in and around volcanoes.
