Pokémon GO has taken the world by storm. The mobile app represents a new type of augmented reality game, one that sets players loose in the real world where they must physically hunt for in-game objectives using GPS. Since Pokémon GO players are moving about crowded city streets, parking lots, and even natural landscapes while staring at their phone screens, it’s natural that some players have hurt themselves while playing Pokémon GO. Check out our list of the worst Pokémon GO injuries of all time.
10. Quebec Cops Injured By Absent-Minded Player
Crashing your car into police vehicles is never a good idea, especially when distracted by a mobile game. One Quebec City resident did just that, however, proving just how addictive Pokémon GO can be. The driver and another occupant of the car were playing Pokémon GO from their car in the parking lot of a Quebec library when they suddenly reversed their car to try and get closer to nearby Pokémon. Unfortunately, a parked police cruiser was directly behind them. The car smashed into the police car, causing minor injuries to the officers inside. The driver of the car, meanwhile, was ticketed only thirty dollars for the incident and charged with failing to signal.
9. Australian Girl Breaks Arm In Bizarre Accident
Since Pokémon GO sends players out into the real world to catch the game’s collectible monsters, players must interact with their surroundings in a way that no other game has been able to achieve. Sometimes, this can lead to unfortunate accidents, such as in the case of a Brisbane teen. According to reports, the girl was hunting for Pokémon in a heavily forested area at the Brisbane Botanical Garden when a tree branch fell on her. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she was classified as being in a stable condition.
