February 15, 2022

Some people love getting gift cards for Christmas; others find it a bit unexciting. But the one thing everyone can agree on is even a small gift is powerful enough to let someone know you are thinking of them over the holiday season! If you are feeling less than excited about giving a loved one a gift card this year, try jazzing up your delivery or package with one of these neat ideas.

10. Make A Handmade Cloth Gift Card Holder

Show off your generosity and your creative side by sewing together a handmade cloth gift card holder. Head to a hobby store and pick out some fun Christmas cloth and decorations to sew on the front of the holder. Start by measuring the length and width of the gift card and look for pieces that are slightly larger. Make the back cloth a bit longer than the front for a snug look that displays the top of the card.

9. Knit A Crochet Gift Card Holder

If you cannot find one available to purchase at a store, try your hand at knitting a crochet gift card holder in a fun Christmas shape. Basic tutorials are available online if you are not familiar with knitting. The end result will be more time and effort put into your gift even the pickiest recipient will appreciate! Try making a Christmas stocking, snowman, Christmas tree or even a small knitted Santa Claus if you are feeling brave.

Purchase an especially cute and cozy mug your friends or family will enjoy sipping from all winter long and display the gift card inside. Tuck in a hot chocolate packet, some mini marshmallows and a peppermint candy cane for the perfect way to present your card. It will be like you are giving two gifts at once! Include a small Christmas ornament or a handmade crotched mug holder for an extra special touch.

Picture frames are a great way to give gift cards because they can be wrapped in cute wrapping paper and no one will guess what it is. Place the gift card inside the frame as if you are displaying a picture and wrap it in a box or as is. You could even make your own picture frame if you cannot find one at the store you like. Adding a personal touch is a great way to show someone their gift is extra special.

6. Present It In A Tin Card Holder

Tin holders can be purchased at the store and brought home to personalize. Head to the local dollar store and look for a plain one. They are usually sold in sets of two or three. Take it home and decorate the tin however you want. Cover it with Christmas wrapping paper or even decorate the tin with green and red spray paint. Get creative by gluing Christmas decorations or the person’s name on the front.

5. Display It In A Mason Jar

Mason jars have a way of making everything look classy and elegant. Head to the store and pick out a large mason jar then fill it halfway with red and green M&M’s or other Christmas candy. Make sure you leave room for the card. Seal the jar with the lid and wrap twine around the neck with a personalized note. You can even glue or spray some decorations on the outside of the jar and flip the jar upside down.

Pick out a small plant such as an evergreen tree, a poinsettia or your friend or family member’s favorite flower. Decorate the base with Christmas wrapping paper and display the gift cards in between the leaves or flowers of the plant. You can also lay them in the dirt or gently tie them to the branches to make it look like they are receiving their very own miniature Christmas tree complete with gift card ornaments.

3. Make A Shoe Box Gift Card Holder

Wrapping a shoebox is a great way to throw off your loved one. Take an old shoe box and fill it with crumpled up Christmas wrapping paper. Place the gift card in between the wrapping paper so it does not move around when the box is shaken. Wrap the shoe box in festive paper and watch as your loved one thinks they are unwrapping shoes as their Christmas gift. This could be a fun idea even if your gift card is not for a new pair of shoes.

2. Make (Or Buy) A Felt Stocking Gift Card Holder

Felt gift card holders can be purchased at the store or handmade at home if you are extra crafty. Look for other shapes including a Santa hat, a Christmas ornament or a Christmas tree if you have more than one gift card to give. These are the perfect way to display your gift card and they can even fit inside a card or as part of a stocking stuffer. You could also drop a few Christmas candies inside for a little something extra.

1. Deliver Your Gift Card As Part Of A Candy Sled

Get creative by turning your gift card into part of Santa’s Sleigh. Inexpensive gift card holders can be purchased for less than a dollar at most stores. Arrange two candy canes as your base and layer the sled with rectangular candy with Christmas colors. Slide the cardboard gift card holder in the center and layer with more candy. Keep the candy in place by wrapping a Christmas bow or a piece of twine around it.
