Historically, a coastline has always held appeal for the striking view of the vast ocean as well as becoming important access points to the sea for fishing or transportation. According to the CIA World Factbook, the United Kingdom ranks 12th in the world regarding their length of coastline, with an incredible 12,428 kilometres of coast surrounding the country. They serve as proof that the United Kingdom has some of the best coastal scenery in the entire world.
Hartland Quay is located in Devon and experiences some of the roughest seas in the world during winter. Popular with tourists due to unique rock formations as well as maritime history and various shipwrecks, Hartland Quay is a stunning piece of the United Kingdom’s coastline.
South Stack Lighthouse
This photo provides a fantastic look at the Atlantic Ocean and its vast reach. Located in North West Wales, the lighthouse was built all the way back in 1809 and has been automated since 1983.
