10 Awesome Cars With Terrible Gas Mileage

May 1, 2022

The average person tends to lean towards a conservative, sensible vehicle because they need their ride to last long and not cost two hundred dollars every time they need to fuel up. But, that does not mean one cannot dream about owning one of these less fuel efficient beauties. These ten cars have terrible gas mileage and are probably ruining the environment, but they sure are great to look at.

10. Ferrari FF

The Ferrari FF has an estimated eleven city and eighteen highway miles per gallon. It comes with a shooting brake that does not specifically do anything for its fuel efficiency, but its bubble butt and four seats make this a highly desirable Ferrari. The fuel capacity of the 2015 Ferrari FF holds twenty-four gallons, which means it will need to be regularly filled. It has a 6.3 liter, V12 engine, a seven-speed dual clutch engine that gets 651 horsepower.

9. Hummer H1

No one really needs a Hummer H1, especially because it only gets nine city miles per gallon. It is also more than seven feet wide and weighs seven thousand pounds, so do not expect to get anywhere quickly. But, the Hummer H1 is sure to make anyone look like a badass. It is available in five different engine types and three automatic transmissions, including the 6.2 liters GM Diesel V8 three-speed or four-speed, the 6.5 liter GM Diesel four-speed, the 5.7 liter Vortec 5700 V8 four-speed, the 6.5-liter turbo GM Diesel V8 four-speed, and the 6.6 liter V8 turbo five-speed.

8. Bentley Mulsanne

The Bentley Mulsanne is named after the Mulsanne Straight, which is a part of a race track in Northwestern France called the Circuit de la Sarthe and holds the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At eleven city and sixteen highway miles per gallon, it is about as good on gas as an old race car, only with a lot more style. It features a 6.75 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 505 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission that goes from zero to sixty in 4.9 seconds.

7. Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab is the perfect vehicle to pack up the family and hit the road; with its extended cab and four-seating capabilities, if only it were not such a gas sucker. With nine city miles and twelve highway miles per gallon and an 8.3-liter Viper engine with 500 horsepower, it is the perfect choice for towing just about anything, such as a boat, a trailer, or even another gas-guzzling car.

6. Lamborghini Aventador

Although it only gets eleven city miles and eighteen highway miles to the gallon, the Lamborghini Aventador is one of the coolest cars no one actually needs. Newer models go for about four hundred thousand dollars, which does not leave a lot of spare change for gas. The insanely ridiculous yet utterly desirable Aventador packs a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 730 horsepower under its hood, along with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed manual transmission. It also has a top speed of two hundred and seventeen miles per hour.

5. Ford F-250 Lariat Diesel

A Ford F-250 Lariat Diesel is from the late 2000s and gets an estimated nine city and eleven highway miles per gallon, which is comparable to all of the other choices on this list. However, it weighs more than eight and a half thousand pounds, which should be taken into consideration when sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. When this truck first hit the automotive scene, it was one of the worst regarding gas mileage but has since gained significant improvements.

4. Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen looks a lot like a box on wheels and gets twelve city and fifteen highway miles per gallon, but most people want it anyway. Powered by a 416 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 engine with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen starts at one hundred and twenty thousand. Although this makes little sense for the average car buyer, there is something about its old-school look that keeps people coming back for more.

3. Rolls-Royce Phantom

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is what happens when an automotive manufacturer puts a 6.8 liter, V12 engine with 450 horsepower into a body that already weighs almost three tons. The result is a gas-guzzling, eleven city and nineteen highway miles per gallon vehicle that is desirable because it is a hand-made work of art. It is also one of the most exclusive cars in the world, making it a bit of a fantasy for the average Joe.

2. Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG

One of the more gas conscious choices on this list is the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG, as it gets twelve city and eighteen highway miles per gallon. Those numbers are not necessarily high, but with its V12 twin-turbo engine and 600 horsepower, it is a choice most cannot say no to, even with a starting price of over two hundred thousand dollars. But expect sky-high insurance rates, because one does not simply drive the speed limit in this car.

1. Bugatti Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron is proof that anyone with enough wealth to pay two million dollars for a car probably does not care about the extra gas expenses that come with it. The 2011 Bugatti Veyron goes from zero to sixty miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds, puts out over a thousand horsepower and gets an estimated seven city and fifteen highway miles per gallon. With top speeds of two hundred and twenty-five, this sixteen cylinder beast is probably the most ridiculous automobile one could buy. Better get two.
