Try Simple Calligraphy

Do not be afraid to try simple calligraphy on your handmade card! It is easier than you may think, and there are so many free tutorials online for you to watch. Of course, the best advice for calligraphy, even simple projects with it, is to practice. It would be terrible if you spent an hour creating a beautiful card only to have your paint pen splotch and ruin it when you begin to write on it. Get the kinks out on practice paper first!

A good tip is to use a paper that is the same texture as your card because different types of paper take ink differently, and each pen feels different on different paper. You do not want to learn too late that the felt-tipped marker you love to write in your journal with smears everywhere on the opalescent, silky paper you picked for your mother's birthday card. If you are particularly nervous, try printing a template with a computer font that matches what you want to achieve. This template can guide you quite closely!
