Concept Bicycles Of The Future

April 2, 2022

Over the years, the concept of bicycles hasn't changed much. Pedals, a pair of wheels, a frame and a seat have been around for several hundred years. Lately, there's been some progress in bicycle concepts, with companies pushing the envelope when it comes to design and function. We've seen some pretty strange, amusing, and even sexy designs out there that represent where the future of cycling is going. We put together a short but sweet list of some bicycle concepts that may grind your gears or, you may end up switching out your old bike from high school for one of these top contenders.

24/7 City Pedelec by Philipp Guenther

This futuristic granny bicycle is a perfect City bike for the metropolitan population. It’s designed with the idea of simplicity and functionality for city cyclists. This bicycle might look all dainty, especially with the yellow frame, but this bad boy bike is heavy duty and is made to last for a long time without breaking down. The Unique design has all of mechanical and vulnerable parts hidden inside the heavy frame, which protects the bike from damage and daily wear and tear. Boom, the future is coming, in terms of bicycles of course. 24/7 City Pedelec has an automatically adjusting seat, which is helpful if the bicycle is being used by many people. The bicycle also has a built in motor that allows you to ride the bicycle in a relaxed way without much effort, without sacrificing the speed.

ECO // 07 – Compactable Urban Bicycle

I know that there have been some serious various of folding bicycles and compact bicycles over the years, but this bike has smashed any competitor when it comes to re-inventing the bicycle wheel. Just one of the unique features of this bicycle is that it can be disassembled completely in seconds. Even the wheels fold up! We couldn't get all of the answers, but the secret is in the wheels. Each wheel consists of 6 modules that can be separated and folded up to save up space. The incredible portability and compactable design make this bicycle the ideal choice for the nomad travel guru, or anyone wanting to save space.

X Bike

This concept is classified as a mini-bicycle and is perfect for people who appreciate comfort and mobility. The X Bike is shaped like the letter “X” which either gave them the idea for the super catchy name, or its just a coincidence, who cares. What matters is this bike can be folded up in 6 easy quick steps, thanks to the quick-release skewer mechanism. One of the unique features that really make this concept stand out is that it doesn’t use any chains or cables for the mechanics. If that wasn't enough, this baby making machine has a specially designed prostatitis preventing seat. Now go get one, in the near future.

Variable Frame Bike

This bicycle is pretty sick, it's like having three different styles of bicycle in one, which makes this last future concept bike a top pic for comfort and versatility. The bicycle’s frame can be changed into three modes depending on your needs. The upright design is primarily for easy riding while in the city and in a rush. It’s optimal for speed and getting you from point A to B as quickly and efficiently as possible. While in the upright position, you also have you more control over the bike for maneuvering through traffic. For a more relaxing ride in the park or you’ve gotten out of the city and into the countryside for a cruise, you’d be much more comfortable in the reclining position. The best part is that you don’t even have to get off the bike to switch modes. You just push a lever and lean forward or backwards depending what mode you’d like your bicycle to be in.
